Methods of Development & Process

Topic: Are the web filters at your school too restrictive?

Thesis:
Yes. Restriction of the web filters shouldn’t be implemented because we couldn’t control the outside variables in life. As in we will encounter a lot of things no matter how, what, when, where, why and with whom. Thus if certain things are restricted in school - where we very much learn everything - then how are we supposed to know ways of dealing with those things? It would be better if we are exposed to certain things, considered as controversial or dangerous, at a certain age and are taught on how to deal with it early. Rather than keeping us in a cage and if we encounter those things outside the cage, we didn’t know how to deal with it. The children who were taught on these topics as well as how to handle them will be better at being well-rounded individuals because whatever it is that they will encounter in their future, they already know how to solve it. The ones who are sheltered - in the knowledge of these topics - will need extra help whenever they encounter it in their future because they don't have the knowledge on how to deal with it, hence they're not really the people we call as a well-rounded individual.

Evidence:

- While the attempt to keep children pure for as long as possible is admirable, it takes the form of leaving gaping holes in their education, if not academically, then about life. While parents may be tempted to shelter their children from issues that they find unfavorable or offensive, they may be restricting their child’s ability to grow and learn at the same time.
- “We forget [that] when we cut kids off [from social media] we limit their opportunities to succeed, explore their passions, and discover their strengths and talents.”
- Last week, I wrote about how Web filtering software, designed to protect children from harmful content on the Internet, is being used in an excessively heavy-handed fashion and frequently blocks students from accessing legitimate educational materials.

Complete.  The use of hyphens made it easy for the reader/invigilator to find your 3 pieces of evidence. Putting the source in brackets like: (Source B) will make it easy for the invigilator to identity where the evidence came from. Many times exams are scored very quickly with out much attention, so you want to make it easy for the marker who will automatically just give you a point, if the invigilator has to review the articles and re-read your submission, the extra scrutiny may not go in your favor.
