Kimitake Hiraoka, better know by his pen name Yukio Mishima, is considered one of the most important Japanese authors of the 20th century.  He recently got a popularity boost when well known YouTuber PewDiePie called him one of his favorite writers, [link].

I.  Write a brief biography of Yukio Mishima, his life and times.  Cite your sources. ~100 words.

II. Locate and read Mishima's The Seven Bridges.  The short story originally appeared in the Mishima anthology, Death in Midsummer and Other Stories (pp.85-101).  Write a synopsis of the plot.  ~50 words.

III.  Chose one of the schools of literary criticism we studied in Term 2 (Aristotelianism, feminism, new criticism, etc).  Briefly explain what that school of literary theory teaches. ~50 words.

IV. Explain your interpretation of the theme of The Seven Bridges through the lens of the literary theory you chose, being sure to draw connections to the authorial context of Mishima's life and times.   Include at least one quote from the story.  ~200 words.
