What is freedom of speech?
Nino – Is when someone express their thoughts on something without any restriction.

Should there be some limits on what we are free to say
Michiko – There should be a certain limit on freedom of speech, such as a specific format.
Nino – Need a structure and restriction about freedom of speech. Such as limitation of types of hate speech that should be banned, i.e hate speech on minorities etc.
Shakira – Yes, sometime people say unnecessary things to hurt other people.
Derrel – It is impossible to create a format or limitation on freedom of speech, since what might be considered as hate speech differs greatly for other people.

How does freedom of speech help improve a society?
Shakira – Freedom of speech is necessary, but sometimes what qualifies as hate speech may differ for each person, as people can say things in different tone and can be interpreted differently.

Should people be free to spread hatred?
Shakira – No, since they will create controversy.
Nino – The term hate speech is too vague, what other people think is hate speech might not be hate speech to another.
Derrel – Saying controversial things without causing any harm to others shouldn’t be illegal. When harm is created then things can be illegal, such as the result of the words that we say.

Young people should be free from free speech, do you agree?
Shakira – Young people should have limitations, especially people of a younger demographic since they don’t have the maturity to handle a lot of topics.
Michiko – Knowing sensitive topics can be harmful to children that are growing, since they can be influenced with a lot of ideas that are inappropriate for their age and may alter their thought process in a negative way.

Should freedom of speech be controlled?
Michiko – Almost everything that we have no control of such as nature even have rules. Therefore, I think speech where we have control of should have limitations and rules, as it is impossible to have 100% freedom of speech. Even abstract paintings have rules
Shakira – There should be limits on what people can say, if not people can do anything that they want.

How can democracy be possible without freedom to share ideas?
Derrel – is not possible without freedom of speech, as it is the foundation of said ideology, such as the ability and share different ideas and thoughts.
Nino – If we stop freedom to share ideas, we are destroying the essence of democracy itself.

Conclusion
Shakira – Everything needs to have balance.
Michiko – There are rules to everything, and that includes freedom of speech itself.
Derrel – You can’t create specific rules on freedom of speech, as people perceives things differently, therefore creating rules on free speech shouldn’t be done.
