1. Fallacy ppt

2. Categorize as many of the following arguments by fallacy type as you can. Note your justification.

a) "Princess Kate wears Alexander McQueen. Are you trying to say you have better fashion sense than a royal princess?"
Non sequitur since she’s jumping into conclusion on why the princess wears alexander mcqueen

b) "We need to stop allowing colleges to increase tuition every year. The next thing we know, it's going to cost more to attend college for one semester than it is to buy a new home!"
Slippery slope
It’s talking about how the tuition would get more expensive if they don't stop college to raise tuition

c) "You are so stupid your argument couldn't possibly be true."
Ad hominem the person is dismissing someone argument since they think the argument stupid

d) "No true Scotsman puts sugar on his porridge."
Hasty generalization, since the person is generalizing of what a scotsman would actually do to a porridge.

e) "Everyone else is doing it. Why shouldn't you?"
Bandwagon fallacy
Since it’s trying to persuade the person into doing something that many other people follow

f) "Mary wore her favorite necklace today and aced her spelling test. That necklace must be lucky. "
Non sequitur: Just because someone is wearing a necklace doesn't mean that they believe the item is actually lucky

g) "Veganism is foolish because humans have eaten meat for thousands of years."
argumentum ad antiquitatem (appeal to tradition) because it trying to argue because of people eating meat for thousands of years.

h) "I am a good student, Frank says so. How can we trust Frank? Simple: I will vouch for him."
Begging the question he is just supporting frank without evidence but to follow his word

i) "People say salmon are disappearing from this river. Let's watch and see if one disappears."
Non sequitur because fish cant disappear the person is taking the word seriously and jumping to a conclusion
