Citations, MLA and Source Credibility - Juna (12 F) Empty Citations, MLA and Source Credibility - Juna (12 F)

1. Find five sources you could use to guide your formatting and citation to ensure your writing meets the standards of MLA style. This could include, images, pdfs, citation generators, citation manuals, example papers, etc. Give the name of each source you found, the url, and describe what kind of source it is/what the contents of the source are.

a. Owl Purdue
This is where starters like me get our guidance on MLA Formatting.

b. Easy Bib
I was introduced to this by a mentor of mine, and from there learning MLA I thought is the most easiest from this.

c. Mendely
This one's interesting. It has everything I need to know about MLA citing in one article, including pictures and tips.

d. Bibme.org
There's a picture to it, wanna see? Here.

e. University of Cantebury
Even universities can provide us with good source for an MLA Citing guide, and it's complete!

2. Which source will be the most useful for you in writing your senior thesis and in your future academic work? Why?

From all 5 above, all of them works, and from those all I couldn't think which one would be more efficiently for me especially in terms of its element and aspect. I would say going for Owl Purdue would be great cause good for starters, but when it’s time to go serious then suggest using Easy Bib because it definitely helps a lot especially with MLA Formatting.

3. Give the correct MLA citation for each of the following items:

a) A book:

https://archive.org/details/quintuscurtiusr00cellgoog/page/n9/mode/2up

Curtius Rufus, Q., Crosby, W. and Cellarius, C. (1854). Life and exploits of Alexander the Great. New York: D. Appleton and company.

b) A scholarly article:

Retief, Francois & Cilliers, Louise. (2010). The death of Alexander the Great. Acta Theologica. 26. 10.4314/actat.v26i2.52557.

c) A blog post:

Schanefelt, B. (2019). Trump as Alexander the Great. [Blog] American Thinker. Available at: https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2019/07/trump_as_alexander_the_great_.html [Accessed 13 Feb. 2020].

d) An online magazine:

Ansari, A. (2020). Alexander the not so Great: History through Persian eyes. [online] Available at: https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-18803290 [Accessed 13 Feb. 2020].

e) A map:

Bos, Carole "Map Depicting the Empire of Alexander the Great" AwesomeStories.com. Oct 07, 2013. Feb 12, 2020. <http://www.awesomestories.com/asset/view/Map-Depicting-the-Empire-of-Alexander-the-Great>.

f) A movie:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0346491/

Alexander. (2004). [film] Directed by O. Stone. USA.

4. Which of these items do you believe is the most credible, reliable, and authoritative? Which source is the least? Write a minimum of 50 words explaining your rationale.

I myself am more of a movie person than the rest of these things above there. Alexander, that’s a great a choice for a citation film, even when it has 16% on Rotten Tomatoes. But IMDB is somewhat my place for all things movies, even when some can’t be reliable. Comparing from all that, I believe anything related with the internet are mostly the ones I can rely on ever since we have technology and now that we’re getting used to technology and so as the sites and informations that they have, book can also be reliable but it’ll also be difficult to came up with the right format for citing.

I highly recommend using examples, and avoiding those online cite generators....
